The Door Youth Centre is a place where young people can gain the knowledge and skills that help them become independent, responsible, and productive members of the community.  And it has the support of the Ottawa Rotary Club.

The Door Youth Centre is modelled after The Door New York, a youth centre located in the heart of New York City.  Art Stinson, the former head of the School of Social Work at Carleton University thought that there was a need to offer a place for Ottawa youth to interact with each other as peers, to make new friends and to access services.  It was this vision that led to opening of The Door in May of 1994.

Focusing on education, social development and recreation, The Door’s program to build self-confidence and pursue avenues of self-discovery and expression was a perfect fit for the objectives of Ottawa Rotary’s Community Service Committee.  “It was a privilege to meet the team and some of the young people at The Door,” said Robert Therrien.  “And I know Ottawa Rotarians are pleased to make this $1,000 donation to support The Door’s work.”
