Welcome, Philip Yung!
 
Introduction to Rotary – October 22, 2018
 
It is a privilege to introduce Philip Yung as a new member of the Rotary Club of Ottawa.
 
Philip was born in Hong Kong, Immigrated to Canada (Toronto) in 1973 and moved to Ottawa in 1985. He attended the University of Waterloo where he studied economics.
 
He has been married to his charming wife Evelina for 30 years.
 
In Ottawa, Phillip worked for Canada Trust. This was where he got his first introduction to Rotary, being a colleague of Gary Pluim who many of you know.
 
Philip then spent 22 years with the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions.
 
Philip spent several years volunteering for Watercan, an organization that helped deliver clean water to underdeveloped countries. He was a member of his parishes Refugee Committee a while back and he continues to provide analytical analysis to the Ottawa Catholic Archdiocese.
 
As far as hobbies, Philip lists:
 
Travel – Philip and Evelina, after several years of staying home caring for elderly family members, are now planning to see a bit of the world.
 
Singing – Philip sings in his church choir.
 
Golf – just been golfing for a couple of years, but is hooked.
 
Bridge – plays with a local group, first as a spare now a full-time member.
 
It should be noted Philip and Evelina were billeters this year for the Adventure in Citizenship program. first time
 
In summary,Philip possesses all of the characteristics of a good Rotarian and you will enjoy meeting him.
